Kuala Lumpur – The KL-Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall Chairman Tan Yew Sing agrees with some people’s opinion in that the BR1M distribution is only generating limited benefits, and the Government should not be adding on more subsidies or grants on those non-productivity areas in softening the impacts from GST. Rather, it should have put in more effort to assist the people to be able to generate more income.
“The Government should teach the people how to fish, rather than giving them fish directly.”
He indicated that when the Government is assisting the general public in dealing with the cost of living issues, rather than announcing the sort like reducing the income tax rate, it should delay the initiation of the GST so as to achieve immediate results.
“I do not agree on having more non-productive grants, the government should provide the supports for the people to earn a living, it should introduce more policy that can generate quicker results ……. Like the SMEs which concerned, should they have been given more small loans? This is what the Government should consider.”
