Selangor – Tax expert Gong Ling Long is of the opinion that it is not the appropriate time for the Government to increase the RON95 petrol and diesel prices, and this price hike created doubt that whether petrol will be included in the GST exemption list.

He pointed out that the Government’s petrol price hike is only 10 days away from the tabling of the 2015 budget by Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib, and the people are very concerned with whether petrol will be subject to GST.

“If petrol is taxed by GST then the present price adjustment will be an added burden to the people.”

Kong Ling Long expressed such view when being telephone interviewed by Guang Ming Daily with regards to the Thursday petrol price adjustment by the Government.
