Hua Qiao University to set up office in Malaysia offering courses and enhancing collaboration

(China, Quanzhou, Fuzhou 12 Nov) Under the concept of “Building for overseas Chinese, flourishing for overseas Chinese”, Hua Qiao University in Quanzhou would be setting up an office in Malaysia to enhance collaboration between the university and Malaysia.
The SME Association of Malaysia delegation visited Fuzhou and Quanzhou in Fujian province. Led by the president of the association Michael Kang, the delegation attended the Business and Industry Council of Maritime Silk road and also visited local business and industry groups as well as Hua Qiao University in Quanzhou.
24-season drums is popular
Deputy president of Hua Qiao University Liu Bin received the delegation at Chen Jiageng Memorial Hall. At the reception Liu Bin praises Malaysian students studying in the university. Despite the number of student is small, the students are active especially after the formation of 24-season drum. Local businesses welcome 24-season drum. The students are often invited for performance during events.
He reveals that many Malaysians are directors of Hua Qiao University. As the university will be setting up an office in Malaysia, he believes this will assist Hua Qiao University and Malaysia in terms of interaction.
Liu Bin points out that apart from training Chinese independent school teachers, the university will be offering training courses on long term and short term basis. It will work with the association tailoring to its needs for courses offered.
Kang says the association hopes to explore the collaboration model with the university to offer training for small and medium enterprises in Malaysia to upgrade the professional knowledge and technical skills of staff.
He hopes the university would be able to assist by offering technical courses in Malaysia while the association hopes to bring halal system into Quanzhou. Halal management system is also broad topic where both sides can explore possibility of collaboration.
Huang Jingrong: Malaysian products can be exhibited at ASEAN building
To understand the smooth process for Malaysian products to be imported to China, the delegation has also visited the ASEAN building in Fuzhou city and the Malaysia building in Ma Wei Free Trade Zone.
The person in charge of the ASEAN building of International Straits Free Trade Zone city Hua Jingrong says agricultural products and commercial products from Malaysia rely on agreement between government to government to enter China’s market. The clearance process and immunisation procedure would be smoother then.
As it is not easy to source for a local agent, Huang says local businesses opt to display some of the products in ASEAN building to be discovered by local businesses which are looking for opportunities. Thus, risk and bureaucracies are reduced.
On the other hand, the Fujian province Federation of Industry and Commerce vice president Jiang Rongquan receive the delegation in the federation’s office in Fuzhou. The delegation is briefed on operation of the federation and treated with a reception.
The association has also signed agreement on collaboration framework on halal sector with China International Quanzhou Business Club.
Bring halal verification into China
During dialog, Kang also stresses that halal verification task would be brought into China in a corporate collaboration model. He hopes to have more collaboration and rapport with China in future.
