(Malacca Nov 9) Sin Chew Media Corporation executive director cum Sin Chew Daily chief executive officer Xu Chun says as various parties have changed their views on Chinese schools and Chinese education, Chinese schools can be looking forward to good times. Chinese schools do not offend others and yet still unable to escape the fate of being “bullied” by others, especially remarks and measures which are negative to Chinese schools.

“Fortunately, government leaders are still positive. Both Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister reiterate that Chinese schools are heritage of the country and ignore remarks shutting down on Chinese schools.”

He points out that people understand MCA leaders are working hard to rectify all forms of deviation. It’s a thankless task and a temporary solution. Judging from the point of stopping others from setting fire to solve the problems, he said relying on tactics to douse fire alone can never solve all of them.

Xu Chun says this at the opening ceremony of Sin Chew Daily’s “old town carnival” held in SRJK (C) Cheng in Malacca today.

Value of Mandarin soar, situation of Chinese school turns better

Xu Chun says Chinese schools have existed in Malaysia for more than 100 years. It was not smooth journey if not because of persistence by the Chinese community. In recent 20 over years, China’s economy grows robustly after opening up. As the economic value of Chinese soars, the whole world is competing to learn Chinese. Situation of Chinese schools have improved.

He points out that everyone has a ruler (to judge) in their hearts.
Efficiency of government’s administration is important. But the crux of the matter lies on mutual respect among races and defending dignity of ethnicities to win support of people.

He is of the view that diversity is the asset of the country. Everyone should treasure it and not turning the asset into a liability.

Practicing moderation as policy is the key to long term stability for the country.

Those who harm racial harmony should face music

“Nevertheless, people find it hard to accept letting off the extremists who release statements which harm racial harmony.”
