Kluang – MCA deputy-president Datuk Wee Ka Siong stressed that any statement to abolish the Chinese primary school is seditious, MCA pledged to safeguard the line of defence of the Chinese education.

Wee Ka Siong who is also the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said this at a media conference in Kluang on his working visit here on Monday.

Government concerns about Chinese primary schools

He said regardless when, any proposal to abolish Chinese primary schools is considered to be seditious. Wee Ka Siong said the Constitution has allowed the establishment of the Chinese primary schools; this is also the foundation underlying all efforts to build the country and cannot be questioned.

“MCA stands firm on safeguarding the line of defence of the Chinese education.” He also stressed that not only Chinese are studying in the Chinese primary schools, currently there are some 15 per cent non-Chinese students studying in Chinese primary schools.

He said the “Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025” formulated by the Ministry of Education includes the development of Chinese primary schools, he did not think that the government would abolish Chinese primary schools, instead the government is concerned about the Chinese primary schools.

MCA Kluang division chief Gan Ping Sieu who was accompanying Wee Ka Siong during the visit said our education system allowed the existence of various medium of schools, they include the private schools, international schools, Arabic schools, religious schools and Chinese primary schools.

“If those who have ulterior motive only aimed at the Chinese primary schools, then they are completely wrong.”
