PETALING JAYA, Dec 17 – “I am Malaysian, I support moderation”, University Malaya (UM) students are supporting the “Support Moderation” campaigned initiated by Sin Chew Daily by saying no to racial and religious extremism.
UM student Effendi (translated name) believed that speech by certain extremists will damage the racial unity and harmony in the country. Therefore he supports the moderation movement advocated by 25 prominent Malays in order to maintain peace in the country.
The other UM student Shafee (translated name) said extremist will impede the country’s development with the provocative remarks. He believed that people of all races should live together harmoniously in order for the country to develop and prosper.
Retiree Pridam Singh (translated name), 67, said he support the moderation path in governance and hope that the Malaysian government will diligently and actively implement moderation so as to resolve the worsening extremism in the country.
