Kuala Lumpur – Former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir pointed out that to control the nation’s spending, the Government must put a halt on the distribution of BR1M and not by suddenly cutting down on the petrol and diesel subsidies.

On Wednesday evening, he gave the above opinion through his twitter. As of Thursday afternoon 12 pm, there were 4200 people retweeting this tweet.

He then tweeted “the sudden hike of petrol and diesel prices will eventually cause the cost of living and prices to be increased, and it will further burden the people.” This tweet got retweeted by 5,200 people.

Ministry of Trade and consumerism pointed out that to rationalize the burden of subsidies that affect the livelihood of the middle to lower income groups, the Government will continue the different types of support and reward scheme, including the increasing of the fund for BR1M. The details of the 2015 budget will be announced during the budget tabling.
