(Kuala Lumpur 8/10) Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid said, Bukit Aman has set up a special team to investigate the reason behind Teoh Beng Hock’s mysterious death.

In the Parliament today, he was replying to the question raised by DAP Cheras Member of Parliament Tan Kok Wai in his written reply as such.

He indicated that the authority is currently investigating the case, therefore it is not convenient to disclose more details, fearing that it might compromise the investigation process.

On the 5th of September this year, the Court of Appeal set aside the open verdict judgment by the coroner and the High Court.

At that incident, Teoh Beng Hock was the former political secretary of Selangor Executive Councilor Ean Yong Hian Wah. He had been taken away by the Selangor MACC officers on 15th of July 2009 at 5pm to assist in the investigation of the Selangor Executive Councilor’s allegations of misappropriation of state allocations, but was found dead the next day on the 5th floor rooftop adjacent to the Selangor MACC Head Office, the nation was shaken by the incident.

After 18 months of hearings, the Coroner on January 5, 2010, returned an ‘Open Verdict’ for Teoh Beng Hock’s death.

The Attorney General Chamber said on September 8th that the police had formed a special team to further investigate the matter, and upon the completion of the investigation, if the circumstantial evidence was strong enough, the Attorney General Chamber will initiate the prosecution procedures.
