Dong Zong (United Chinese School Committees’ Association) deputy chairman Chow Siew Hon slammed Utusan Melayu for being extremely irresponsible with its extensive coverage on Petaling Jaya Utara Umno chief Mohamad Azli who suggested Umno to discuss the closing down of Chinese schools in the coming general assembly, he urged the government to take action against Utusan with Sedition Act.

He said Utusan’s extensive coverage on such extreme remarks will accelerate the damage of social harmony.

“This should not be the behaviour of a media outlet, the government should take action against Utusan using Sedition Act.”

He also criticized Mohamad Azli’s remarks is aimed to “put up a show” in order to draw attention at the general assembly.

He said, such remark is nothing new, some ministers had previously mentioned about stop building Chinese schools. As Umno’s general assembly is approaching, some people might take this opportunity to stage a show to achieve their personal political agendas.

“This is also the most pathetic thing about our country. Even though it has been 57 years since independence, but the politicians are still manipulating racial issues. Umno should be more open and liberal.”
