Kajang, Selangor 25th news

BN Kajang by-election candidate-elect Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun said, she is very willing to be chosen as a candidate in the Kajang by-election; she has never been pressured to stand.

She said, contesting is her responsibility for the party, and also for serving the people in a healthy political culture; she stands as candidate on her own free will. She admitted, Parliament Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar is a formidable opponent, but she will do her utmost best and commitment to convince the voters, whole heartedly facing this election.

She does not deny of her vulnerability in this by election, “But I hope that I can create a miracle.”

During the interview with Sin Chew, Chew Mei Fun who is also Vice-President of MCA, mentioned that this by-election will be a very tough battle, but they will face the challenge with full sincerity, effort and high morale.

“Contest is difficult, but to contest is to win.”

She wishes to use her utmost sincerity. She hopes the voters can really review her past record and give her a chance.

Looking forward for a healthy political culture

She says, this contest, which is not a General Election or Parliamentary constituency contests but a by-election, thus the results will not alter the overall power base. But Kajang is known as a Cultural City, therefore this by-election should represent the voters’ wish to have a healthy political culture in our country; and this serves as a benchmark. She said if voters feel someone should be the future leader, they should review this person before he becomes the leader; and tell this individual what is acceptable and unacceptable.

Otherwise, an individual or a political party will mix personal affairs with public matters; this is abusing public resources for personal use.

She said, in the past, people has sent out an important message; that is if an individual has become a leader, will this individual abused his or her power, using public resources for personal affairs during his or her leadership?

As for her, this message must be consistent. She said, with Anwar who has the ultimate intention to become the next prime minister, will he have the time and effort to focus on running the state administration?
