Tropicana, July 26 – PKR have no confidence in DAP’s proposal to conduct snap polls in Penang state.

PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah said the party meeting on Tuesday night (26th July) had unanimously expressed the lack of confidence in the proposed snap election in Penang mooted by DAP; however, PKR would send a high level delegation to meet up with DAP leaders to negotiate and express the party’s stance.

Last week, PKR had postponed its decision on the proposed snap polls on grounds that it “could not find reason to support the snap polls for the moment”, and now it said “not convinced” to hold a state election, thus the negotiation had seemingly come to a deadlock.

Wan Azizah said after the Tuesday night meeting that as one of the party members of the Pakatan Harapan, PKR would continue to safeguard the interest of its allies, including the selective political charge against Lim Guan Eng, and the de facto leader of PKR Anwar Ibrahim who is still serving jail sentence, as well as the others who dare to oppose Umno and Barisan Nasional.

She said the outcome of the meeting tonight was not convinced by the snap polls in Penang mooted by DAP; however, taking into account the interest of its allies, PKR has always ready to negotiate with its allies in Pakatan.

“On this, PKR will send a high level delegation to meet up with DAP to express its lack of confidence and the stand taken by the party on snap polls,” she added.
