Do not rot any further

According to the failed nations ranking released by the US think tank and peace foundation, among the 178 nations our country stood at the 115^th position. There were four indicators of a failed nation. The worst level was an alert level followed by a warning, normal or a sustainable development in the nation. Our nation was placed on the warning level.

Although our nation has not reached the first level like Sudan, Rwanda, North Korea and others, if we do not take measure to improve our security threat, economic down turn, violation of human rights and refugee problem, then we are not far from those  regarded as failed countries.

Take the Philippines as an example

This is not an alarmist’s assumption. The former deputy prime minister Tun Musa Hitam said frankly that the future of Malaysia is slowly spiraling downwards. In a matter of time Malaysia will follow the early footsteps of the then corrupted society in the Philippines. All this is due to the fault of the national leader.

Musa Hitam put forward his argument based on domestic corruption, scandal, rampant shooting cases, robbery and looting incidents. He had left out the actual problem of the long term brain drain, devaluation of the Ringgit, corruption practices by the authorities, indecisive government actions and transparency. Furthermore the Rakyat distrust the government system and decision making process.

The past few decades of backwardness and regression in Philippines were very good real examples. Many of the internal problems were already exposed and naturally many senior statesmen and the public were worried. Vision 2020 was well publicized. Whether it can achieve the objective of a high income nation is an acid test for the present government.

Stop deceiving our self

The former Minister in the Prime Minister department Zaid Ibrahim poked fun at the present leader and his closed followers likened to the story of “The King`s new clothing”. It is a naked truth that the bright future of our country is deteriorating.

The fragile politics, weak economy and poor social structure are mainly caused by the failure of government policies or improper management of the state. The present nonsensical practice by the authority should not be allowed to continue as the future of the nation and the citizens are in their hands.

The government should identify the truth and take care of the problems faced by the nation seriously. The government should review and ensure that politics, economy and society are moving towards the right path. The government must save the nation instead of destroying it with their own hands.
