(Kuala Lumpur 11 Aug) “The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia is not a racist party. While looking after the right of bumiputra, we do not marginalise other races, is this wrong?”
Anina, the treasurer of pro-tem committee for Parti Pribumi who is formerly a wanita Umno delegate of Pulau Langkawi division, said if the party is racist, it would not open to non-Bumiputras. Even if non-Bumiputras are not allowed to contest for party posts, they would still be appointed to key positions.
She clarifies that the party would appoint non-Bumiputra talents to helm senior positions as long as the candidates are able to promote the agenda of the party to benefit all Malaysians.
Deny the party as Umno No 2
In accepting a phone interview by China Press today, Anina denies Parti Pribumi as Umno No 2 as Umno does not open its doors to non-Malays. She explains that the party’s intention is to provide a platform for Malay’s right without forgetting the rights of non-Malays.
“Umno has been damaged by Prime Minister, money and power. We need to provide a suitable platform for the Malays to fight for their rights.”
Asked if the party accommodates and accepts all people, what is the rational of not allowing non-Malay to contest? Anina explains that if all can contest for party posts and vote, how is the party different from DAP and PKR?
“If so, then we will have to compete with DAP and PKR to be their enemy. Why do that? We work with multi-racial political parties. When MCA and MIC look after the interest of its ethnic group, is this racist?”
Using a metaphor, she says Parti Pribumi has built a home for his wife and children (bumiputra) to live but will not invite neighbours (non-bumiputras) to live together. Instead, they help each other and live in harmony as neighbours.
She is of the view that as long as other races are not marginalised and good ties are maintained with various ethnic groups, Parti Pribumi is not wrong.
She believes that as long as Parti Pribumi serves the people with their hearts, people will be with them. The party may not only win in coming elections but continue to contribute to all people in the country in future.
Registration is expected in three months
Anina predicts that Parti Pribumi would receive its approval from Registrar of Societies within two to three months. Currently the party is ready. It has completed drafting its party constitution.
She describes the constitution as very good and reveals that the party would be calling for a press conference on 14 Aug. By then party president Tun Dr Mahathir and chief executive officer Tan Sri Muhyiddin would be president to explain details of forming a new party.
She hopes that prior to the ROS approving the formation of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, all sectors should not conclude. The founders of party are forming the party for the love of this country and its people.
She says it would be unfair to pre-judge the party before its formation.
“Dr Mahathir, Muhyiddin and Mukhriz (deputy chief executive officer) are forming the party for being accountable for the country. If they are self-centred, they would not do that. This group of people who love the country and its people hope to rescue Malaysia.”
She hopes the party can create awareness for its people. If the country lacks unity and respect each other, it will not be able to move forward as a developed nation.
