Sungai Besar, June 14 – Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) candidate Azhar is catching up fast, it is understood that the black market bookmaking has earlier picked Barisan Nasional candidate Budiman as the ultimate winner; however, as the polling day getting nearer and nearer, the majority votes of BN candidate has been reduced to 2,000 by the illicit bookmakers.

It is understood that there are many factors causing the BN majority votes to drop, they include the recent campaign by former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir in supporting Azhar.

With the help of DAP, PAN seems to be catching up very fast, while it is learnt that many unfavorable factors have cropped up in Umno.

Firstly, it is said that Wanita Umno is absent from the Budiman election campaign team. Prior to this, it was reported that senior private secretary of the late MP for Sungai Besar Datuk Noriah, Muslimin would be fielded as candidate in the by-election, but eventually she was dropped and it might cause dissatisfaction in the party.

Apart from Mahathir factor, the current by-election also facing with the factor of former deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin who was removed as deputy PM and later lost his Umno deputy president post, whether the Malay community will be affected by the move is something which attracted much attention.

In the last general election, Noriah had received 65% Malay votes while PAS had only managed to garner 35% Malay votes, Pakatan Harapan is hoping that if Umno continues to lose Malay votes, then Azhar of PAN will have the chance to win the by-election.

On PAS candidate, it is said to be less optimistic, according to the analysis the party can only garner 25% of the Malay votes in maximum.
