Norman: DAP is aware of PAS’ wish to establish theocratic state, hypocrite to attack MCA
Sin Chew Daily 7 June, 2016
(Johor Bharu, 6 June) Former Johor DAP deputy chairman Norman Fernandez criticises DAP a hypocrite. He says DAP is aware that PAS has never given up on shaping Malaysia into a theocratic state and implements hudud law. Now DAP leaders continue to attack MCA on private member’s bill.
“May be DAP now wants to show that it is against PAS. But the public need to understand that when DAP and PAS were under Pakatan Rakyat, DAP was aware that PAS has never given up its hope of establishing Malaysia as a theocratic state and the implementation of hudud law.”
In a statement issued, Norman listed eight points to criticise DAP deceiving the public with Pakatan Rakyat’s common manifesto including “hudud law has never been listed under the common manifesto of Pakatan Rakyat” and the statement on “DAP and PAS have never agreed on hudud”.
He said the public should know that DAP was once very close to PAS. When DAP faced the crisis of unable to use its own logo to contest, it borrowed the logo from PAS instead of the multi-racial PKR.
He said DAP has convinced Chinese to believe in PAS, eradicate non-Muslims’ fear that PAS would no longer implement hudud and a theocratic state.
He also attacked DAP for deceiving the non-Muslims, especially the Chinese that hudud would only be applicable on Muslims. In the private member’s bill tabled recently, it allowed action to be taken on non-Muslims.
Ambiguous approach on hudud
He also reminded that DAP has announced that hudud would need consent of two third majority of MPs to be implemented but has never revealed how hudud can be implemented through other ways.
He claimed that DAP leaders were aware that they needed votes from PAS supporters and have never firmly opposed hudud. Instead it was holding on to be ambiguous.
“In other words, no DAP leaders who are brave enough to confront hudud. There is no MP in Johor who openly opposed PAS and hudud.”
He urged the public especially the Chinese to be aware of PAS, a product nurtured by DAP and groomed it to be a threat.
He felt that the public should ask DAP why do they attack MCA now.
In the past he said DAP was also the “attack dog” of PAS.
