Liow Tiong Lai: Kuantan parliamentary seat should be returned to MCA, will strive for it from UMNO

Kuantan, Dec 14 – MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said MCA would try its best to get back the Kuantan parliamentary constituency which it had lent out to Umno during the last general election.
“We hope Umno will return the constituency to MCA as early as possible so that MCA will be able to get itself prepared against the general election.”

He told reporters this at a press conference after attending a briefing session of MCA Kuantan division on the result of the party transformation programme last night, he also urged party members to defend the Kuantan parliamentary constituency and the two state seats under the constituency.
Also present were MCA Kuantan divisional chief Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, deputy chairman Datuk Andy Chiew Yoke Theng, MCA Kuantan Wanita chief Tee Choon Ser and MCA Kuantan Youth chief Lee Chai Hua.
Liow Tiong Lai said MCA in choosing the candidates would be more transparent like going through opinion poll to select the most popular candidates lest there would be dispute in fighting for the candidacy.
He said the party would carry out fingerprint registration procedure and collect party members email address as well as latest personal information in order to disseminate correct information to party members through smart phone and social media in the efforts to strengthen the relationships among party members.
He pointed out that it is imperative for MCA and Chinese community to be united and to formulate agenda on education, economy and culture.
“Chinese political strength is very crucial in the government.”
