(Pahang, Kuantan 10 Sep) Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong) Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah is of the view that if the 916 rally loses control, racial ties with various ethnic groups and the scenario of the country would be in bad shape.

After checking on the progress of the 32nd Chinese Cultural Festival preparation in Kuantan, he says despite participating in a peaceful rally is a fundamental right accorded by the Federal Constitution, Hua Zong does not agree with any form of rally championing ethnicity of a group.

He also stresses that Hua Zong would not agree with any one with extreme racism mind set to challenge and provoke other ethnic groups through a massive rally.

As the 916 rally has changed its tune without any organiser where the rally is not based on national integrity, peace and security, he hopes political parties of two divide to pay attention and avoid supporting such rally.

Hope Chinese community supports cultural festival

On the other hand, Pheng, who is also the chairman of National Chinese Cultural Festival, reveals that the festival will be held from 11 to 14 September in a multi-purpose stadium. Preparation is in progress currently.

He hopes Chinese community throughout the country and people of all races to support the festival.

“Despite the event is named after Chinese Cultural Festival, cultural performances of other races are also included. All Malaysians are welcome to have a “rally” here.”

He also says that in conjunction with the festival, Hua Zong’s annual general assembly would be held in Kuantan where the assemblies of youth wing and women’s wing would be held on 12 September while parent body on 13 September.
