DAP should not see PAS as enemy, says Tian Chua in support of Azmin
Sin Chew Daily, 10 Sep 2015
(Kuala Lumpur 10 Sep) PKR vice chairman Tian Chua has thrown his support for Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali that Azmin’s stand of PAS to remain in new Pakatan Rakyat is in line with the de facto leader of PKR Datuk Seri Anwar. This has been the party’s stand.
He told Sin Chew Daily today on DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng asking Azmin and PKR to explain reason for collaboration with PAS. He also urges DAP to retract its hostile approach toward other opposition parties.
“Azmin’s statement is not his personal view but PKR’s stand.
Even if PAS has any differences with other opposition parties, the effort of forming alliance among opposition parties should not be hampered. We understand PAS has many differences with us in policy. But more debate and exchange of view can be held on leadership of PAS and not to severe ties of alliance in a hurry.”
“We understand very well why DAP has doubts on PAS. Criticisms made by DAP leaders against PAS are not baseless.
But we hope DAP take into consideration of effort and strategy put in by PKR in handling the complex situation of opposition alliance. We respect PAS in defending its party dignity. PAS leaders should be more open when dealing with its former members of Pakatan Rakyat. Friendliness and benevolence are also teachings of Islam.”
Take the cue from moderation speech of Parti Amanah Negara
Tian Chua also says political differences are normal. All political leaders should look at the moderation speech made recently by Deputy President of Parti Amanah Negara Salahuddin as example.
“We welcome the establishment of Parti Amanah Negara. At the same time we need to be alert not to fall into the trap set by opponents to divide us. In a democratic society differences in political ideologies are normal. But this would not reduce our political strength. This would enlarge our support base.”
He stresses that PKR would be seeking whatever support to topple Umno.
“We are on our way to build a new collaboration platform. Current collaboration style is still being discussed. To avoid repeating mistakes we would not launch our new alliance in a hasty manner. Any formation of political alliance is to ensure that we garner greater support in our political struggle.”
