I always say: Two thousand five hundred years ago, Buddha drew a piece of biscuit and on it the image of Nirvana. Two thousand years ago Jesus also drew a piece of biscuit and on it the eve of Doomsday (the end of the world). Mahathir also drew a piece of biscuit and on it 2020. Nobody knows the shape of the biscuit drawn by Buddha as nobody has ever returned from Nirvana. Likewise nobody can tell us the shape of the biscuit drawn by Jesus as Doomsday has not arrived yet. However the shape of Mahathir’s biscuit will be known soon as we are now in the year 2015.

The biscuit drawn by Buddha enables the Buddhists to have direction in their faith and it also teaches them the ultimate aim in life is to attain Nirvana. If one wants to reach Nirvana, one has to qualify by doing good deeds. If one wants to be saved by god on the eve when the world ends, one has to believe in Jesus and follows his said direction. Will Mahathir’s “Vision 2020” be a success? It doesn’t look good. Nevertheless his vision guides the nation towards development and it is a direction too.

In the 308 general election the Chinese based component parties in Barisan Nasional were defeated badly by the DAP of Pakatan Rakyat. After that MCA, Gerakan and DAP quarreled nonstop. What were these three Chinese based parties quarrelling about? Very likely the quarrel would not veer away from government positions or the post of the Chief Minister. Since then the three parties used the printed media or electronic website to disgrace or to dishonor each other by washing all the dirty linen in the public. All the leaders of these Chinese based parties always boasted in front of their supporters. They are not emphasizing on the future prospect of the Chinese but only the turnout of the Chinese votes in the next general election.

All of them have misled the public, discredit and transfer the blame to the rival party. Other than fighting for their political interests, MCA never has a new vision. Rejoining the Cabinet may be considered as their new direction. The leaders in Gerakan also do not have a vision. Recently they initiated the abolition of capital punishment, is this Gerakan’s vision for the Chinese? After dissolving Pakatan Rakyat, what is the vision projected by DAP? DAP could only lead you incessantly blaming others. Is complaining continuously the direction of the Chinese? What about Dong Zong which was once regarded as the guardian of Chinese education? The never ending infighting caused the progress of Chinese welfare to a bottleneck. Eventually the Chinese communities lost their direction in the midst of infighting. The Chinese have no vision as their minds are clouded with personal interests. Twenty years later the Malaysian Chinese will not be vibrant anymore. They will be regarded as the “Sick men of Asia”.
