Yap Sin Tian: Three conditions to unfreeze Dong Zong’s bank accounts

Kuala Lumpur, June 19 – The pro-Yap faction United Chinese School Committees Association (Dong Zong) president Dr. Yap Sin Tian has proposed three conditions to reformist faction for him to unfreeze the Dong Zong bank accounts.

He said as president of Dong Zong he had announced the freeze on Dong Zong’s accounts in various banks because Dong Zong reformist faction led by its secretary-general Poh Chin Chuan had on June 10 illegally formed the so called central executive committee and had indicated his intention to change the signatories of the bank accounts.

He was therefore worried that the bank deposits might be misused. In order to protect Dong Zong’s money from being abused and misused, the ad hoc measure taken by him was urgent and deemed necessary.

In a press conference held here today, Yap Sin Tian announced that he would unfreeze Dong Zong’s bank accounts on the following conditions lest the salary payments of the staffs and the Unified Certificate of Examination exam would be affected.

1. All must return to the original position of Dong Zong, not to change the bank accounts’ signatories in accordance to the decision made in the so called central committee meeting held on June 10;

2. All external activities and expenditures should report to the president;

3. The central committee meeting on June 14 convened under the order of the court was aborted due to lack of quorum and therefore, the meeting should not pass any resolution. No body shall change the signatories of the cheque to those illegal central committee members.

He said if the above conditions was not being complied with and if there was any unauthorized misuse of public funds, those involved would have to face legal consequence.
