(China, Guangzhou 16 June) The Malaysian delegation of Dongguan business and cultural group paid a visit to the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office in Guangdong Province yesterday. Apart from discussing bilateral trade, local movie “Courage to Dream” on inheriting Chinese culture is being introduced at the visit.

Dongguan Business club visits Guangdong

Wu Rui Cheng, head of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office in Guangdong Provincial Government said migration of Chinese to overseas have started more than 100 years ago. The Chinese in overseas are into their fourth and fifth generation. Young Chinese are needed to develop Malaysia-China ties and cultural interaction so that the bond with ancestral ties would not be cut off.

He said as Chinese in overseas have gradually become major community groups in the region, he hopes that these overseas Chinese maintain their sentiment for ancestral roots and a heart for China.

Malaysian Dongguan Business Club president Zhang Jian Hua said the club was formed five years ago with more than 300 members aged between 30 and 45. Majority of them have never been to Dongguan. The club has hoped to bring members to Dongguan and spread business information of Dongguan through digital platform to Malaysia and other countries.

He said the club also places focus on young people’s role in Malaysia-China ties.

Jiang Guo Jian, advisor of the club said apart from business and trading, the club also places emphasis on Chinese culture inheritance so that the bond with China would not be cut off. Fortunately Malaysia has retained the tradition of Chinese culture.

“Courage to Dream” talks about story of overseas Chinese

“We bring the movie ‘Courage to Dream’ here as it talks about life of several generations of Chinese migrants and promotes Chinese culture too.”

Fan Dong Song, the deputy president of Kuala Lumpur branch of the club said in order to attract young blood, the club has penetrated into university campus through setting up of clubs for university students to identify their direction and join the club directly after their graduation.

Liao Wen Yao, the director of the movie “Courage to Dream” also shared the process of filming the movie during discussion. He said the actors and actresses in the movie were 100% members of public. The movie touched on passing down cultural education in small town. It would be screen in Malaysia next month.

Members of the Malaysian delegation of Dongguan business and cultural group comprise of its technical director Chen Xi Nan, Selangor branch deputy president Liu Chun Kun, vice president Zeng Jian Shan and Feng Su Qiu, Kuala Lumpur club vice president Lin Peng Fei, actors and actresses of Courage To Dream Zheng Chun Feng, Yun Ai Meo, Qiu Kang Guo, Li Yuan Yi, Jiang Li Huan, Gao Xiao Zhu, Lai Xiu Er, Lin Hui Fang, theme song composer Chen Zhi Jian and Iceberg senior manager Mai Zhi Zhong.

Deputy division chief Wang Yi Hua from the economic and technology department of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office under Guangdong Provincial government, Xu Ming Yang and Huang Zong Xi were present to receive the delegation.
