Road Transport Department security guard: I did not force her to wear sarong. I was just being kind to borrow her sarong but the episode was posted on Facebook

(Kuala Lumpur 23 June, 2015) The security guard in the centre of “wear sarong” controversy in Road Transport Department (JPJ) is actually a RELA member. She rebutted the claim on social media that she forced the Chinese woman to wear sarong. She said she lent the Chinese woman her sarong as good will but did not expect that while the woman thanked her, the episode ended up being posted on Facebook.

Tazidamiza, 41, who has four children, said the incident occurred at 3pm on 8 June at the Road Transport Department in Wangsa Maju. When the Chinese woman Suzanna G.L. Tan’s attire did not comply with the requirement set by authorities, she has borrowed Tan her sarong on good will. Tan did not oppose and even thanked her. She did not expect the photo went viral on Facebook one hour later.

“We (JPJ) do not force the public from wearing sarong. They would have to wait outside until their number is called.”

Transferred to Sentul on 18 June

Tazidamiza said the next day she was summoned by Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department head Datuk Seri Ismail Ahmad and she was transferred to another branch.

She later chose to serve in Sentul UTC and reported to work on 18 June.

She later said that she has joined RELA for four years and served as security guard at the JPJ office in Wangsa Maju for more than 1 year. There are many whose attire did not match with standard set by authorities and she often borrowed them sarong. There has never been any controversy.

On the other hand, Tazidamiza received a complimentary award from director-general of RELA Lokman (name as translated) for her good performance at work at the home ministry building in Federal Territory tonight.
