Lim Guan Eng: PAS would have to clear the mess of wanting to sever ties but regret now
Sin Chew Daily, 9 June 2015
(Penang 9 June) DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng says the fact that PAS cutting of ties with DAP remains and now it would be “losing dignity” for PAS to regret.
To mend ties of both parties, the new leadership of PAS, which has started the mess, would have to respond and clean up.
Lim, who is Penang Chief Minister, said this after opening the electronics accessories and micro-electronic international fair today.
He said: “I believe the new leadership of PAS knows that they have done. Since they have done so then they would need to have the courage to shoulder the outcome. To protect the dignity of the party, do not say severe ties here but then continue to co-operate with Penang state government.”
He ridiculed PAS that the party is still undecided till today. Since it has decided to severe ties with DAP nevertheless it has yet to take any action until now.
“How can they overturn the decision they made earlier in a day? How do they let voters trust them?”
“At this moment this is unreasonable for them to refer the motion as rujuk (to severe ties with DAP). They should know Bahasa Malaysia better than me. If this explanation can be accepted, then all Malaysians and I would need to go back to school to learn Bahasa Melayu again.”
“Their message is clear. That is to severe ties with DAP. Regrettably until now they still blame DAP. Don’t forget after 1MDB issue is exposed, Hadi once said the supported Najib. So what even if PAS vice chairman Mohd Nik Amar later said the party would not cooperate with Umno? Hadi is the president or decision maker. Party move is based on his words.”
Asked about jailed PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim calling for PAS to take into consideration of the entire situation and not to severe ties with DAP as well as the collaboration ties of both parties in future, Lim said currently the PAS leadership is afraid to reply on this issue. But he is of the view that the reply should come from PAS.
He also said Mohamad Sabu and Datuk Mujahid have resigned from high positions in Penang government agencies respectively. Their act is to protect the dignity of the party. He said Mohamad Sabu’s resignation has been accepted.
Penang Deputy Chief Minister: 1 village committee resigns en bloc
Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1 Rashid Hasnon said a rural village committee (JKKK) comprised of all PAS members in Seberang Prai have resigned collectively.
He said this after officiating an event in Penang.
Asked whether all PAS members would be resigning from all JKKK positions, he said there are those in power and pro-Pakatan Rakyat groups in PAS. Those who are pro Pakatan Rakyat are unlikely to resign.
He said Penang state has 290 JKKK comprising of 15 members in each committee. About 1,100 of them are from PAS.
