Jiping: All races should involve in OBOR to reap benefits
Nanyang Siang Pau, June 8, 2015
Kuala Lumpur, June 7 – China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) deputy secretary-general Jiping said the “One Belt and One Road” (OBOR) policy should not be confined to Chinese in Southeast Asia but all races should understand fully this particular major programme so that they could also join in.
He said OBOR had been widely reported by the media but not all walks of life really understand the concept, many businessmen and non-governmental organisations were still uncertain and have a blurred vision on the programme.
Could invite Chinese experts to explain
He suggested that Malaysian Chinese community and business organisations to invite Chinese experts and scholars to talk on the project so that they could disseminate the detail information regarding investment opportunities on OBOR.
He said through the experts’ explanations, different races in Malaysia would be able to understand the economic prosperity programme spearheaded by China to enable them to participate according to their capability lest those who understand Chinese language take the advantage while those who don’t understand Chinese are empty handed.
Jiping said this when visiting Nanyang Siang Pau today, also present were CFPD Research Department deputy director He Zhiqiang and committee member Ge Lei. They were received by Nanyang Siang Pau Editor-in-chief Chong Choong Nam, Editorial Adviser Tan Choon Hock and Business Development Manager Sim Siaw Cheng.
The delegation led by Jiping had earlier attended a conference in Bali Island and will be heading back to Beijing after visiting Kuala Lumpur today.
OBOR passing through Asia, Europe and Africa continents involving 4.4 billion populations
In October 2013 during his visit to Indonesia Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced the major plan of “Maritime Silk Road”, subsequently the Chinese authority had drawn up a bigger concept of OBOR policy.
About 4.4 billion people who constitute 63% of the global population will be involved in the OBOR which runs through Asia, Europe and Africa continents; it will generate hefty economic interests along the OBOR of which many are new economic entities and developing nations.
China and countries along OBOR had built up some co-operation mechanism and started joint venture projects. Strategic docking and complementary advantages have been built between China and these countries.
CFPD is a non-profit organization approved by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, China which was set up in Beijing in 2011 with the objective to support China-foreign people-to-people friendly exchange activities, organizing and subsidizing activities for safeguarding world peace and prosperity.
Jiping said the foundation had joint hand with the Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation to organize the “Friends of Silk Road 2015” China-Southeast Asian dialogue; more than 70 representatives from Southeast Asian nations have participated in the dialogue held in Shenzhen on May 14 and 15.
He said from May 13 to 26, new media representatives from Malaysia had visited China, they held discussions with relevant Chinese departments in Beijing, and also took part in “Friends of Silk Road 2015” dialogue session in Shenzhen.
