Dewan Ulama: Disregard provocation by Lim Guan Eng, no hurry to resign from government positions in Penang
Sin Chew Daily, 8 June 2015
(Penang 7 June) PAS ulama wing information chief Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali urges PAS leaders in Penang and Selangor not to be influenced by provocation from DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to resign from state government positions in a hurry to fit the demand made by the arrogant Lim.
Wait for party leaders to issue directive
He said prior to party leaders issuing directive, PAS members should not act in haste.
“The motion is to make a proposal to the party central leadership to end political collaboration and ties with DAP. As PAS still remains in Pakatan Rakyat, this is because DAP has made some inappropriate move to PAS and PAS president.”
He said the motion has been edited by central party’s resolution committee to carry the message of “urging party central leadership to severe political collaboration and ties with DAP.”
“The muktamar approved the motion without debate. This means that the motion would be handed over to Ulama Wing and party central leadership to decide and not to decide in muktamar.”
“The question lies on why does it have to be decided by Ulama Wing and party central leadership and not the muktamar? The answer is because this involves Islamic regulation and Ulama wing would convene a meeting to decide.”
“The political collaboration with DAP was decided under six criteria. To cancel collaboration, this would depend on how many criteria that DAP has contravened.”
Once the Ulama wing made a decision, as the enforcement unit, the party central leadership would carry out according to its wisdom. Hence prior to ulama wing and party central leadership’s decision, even if Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has his requests, all party members or leaders would not need to take action first. (That is to resign from positions held in Penang state government and local government.)
He said PAS has 15 seats in the Selangor state. The Selangor Pakatan Rakyat government was formed under the consent of Selangor Sultan. Representatives of PAS in Selangor state government need not resign as the Selangor state government is not DAP but formed by Pakatan Rakyat members.
“The motion also states that PAS remains in Pakatan Rakyat. PAS would not leave Pakatan Rakyat.”
