Najib is left with silence only?

A national leader, whose integrity is being challenged and doubted, yet still remains silent without making any clarification, explanation or rebuttal, is considered miraculous in a democratic country preaching accountability.
Such miracle continues to take place in Malaysia every day.
From 1 MDB set up by the Prime Minister being suspicious of involving in a huge financial scandal to official jet ferrying Prime Minister suspected of being abused by his family members to tour various countries, Najib, right in the centre of controversy, acts as if nothing happens without making any positive response.
Despite receiving support from the government, 1MDB has accumulated RM42billion of huge debt in five years. Last week, 1MDB was being exposed to have failed to pay Maybank and RHB bank a RM2 billion loan last December.
If the company ultimately fails to settle its debt, the government, acting as its guarantor, would have to shoulder the debt. Taxpayers like you and I would be the final persons having to settle the sum. 1MDB controversy does not lie on its secrecy only. If it is not handled properly, it may end up as the most serious financial scandal in the history of Malaysia, causing a huge impact on the country’s economy.
The only reply from Najib till now, is issuing legal notice to Tony Pua, an MP from the DAP, who have disclosed several non-transparent financial deals of 1MDB. If Najib feels that he has been defamed, why not clarify and respond to accusations made against 1MDB of incurring deficit, involving in tax evasion, money laundering and others but desperate to shut the accuser’s mouth? The controversy of 1MDB does not only involve Najib’s reputation but also the interest of the people and the country.
Official plane touring the world
Najib owes people another explanation on accusation of his family members abusing the official plane. Najib has boarded the official plane to holiday in Hawaii. Due to a catastrophic flood in the country and pressured by public opinions, he was forced to fly home earlier. But the official jet was found to have remained in United States.
Prime Minister’s Office issued statement to explain when the opposition MPs continued to pursue the subject. The official plane was left in United States due to technical problems. But the plane was discovered to have flown to Los Angeles, Indianapolis, London, Bangkok and finally Kuala Lumpur in eight days after Najib returned home. What kind of “technical problems” that the official plane had that it had to fly to so many places to solve them? Who are the ones in the official plane that is paid by taxpayers?
National leaders would have been bombarded by the people and media had it been taking place in democratic countries like the West or Taiwan, the leader would be bowing for forgiveness. But in Malaysia, one can’t be asking for leader’s accountability.
Back to Najib’s act of remaining silence shamelessly, does this give you some sort of familiar sentiment? Right, that was the feeling prior to former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah stepped down.
